I just got back from the doctor's.
The bad rushed robot doctor sucks so bad that he read my blood reports wrong!!!!!!!
After my first meeting with him and his suckage I set up a second opinion appointment with the other OB in the same building. I almost cancelled it a few times but i figured I might as well go and feel out all possible options.
New doctor stood out side of my door flipping through my record, i could hear him. It took him a while. He was taking his time. Good sign.
He walked in and was warm.
Went through my past with me. Asked questions about Truman.
He said many things that reflected what the specialists advice that i had received through UCSF.
and he explained that my results were in fact negative and maybe the other doctor had read it in a rush.
Had i not gone for another opinion, i can't help but wonder how long i would go on thinking i have a diagnosis that is in fact completely wrong? Would have he ever caught it? Would he have told me?
Jeff is kind of pissed.
My Dad, relieved.
I'm glad that i don't have to fear stroke or heart attack every day for the rest of my breathing life (although i know pre-e people are at a higher risk anyways) and that i don't have to take an aspirin a day when i am not pregnant.
He said what my MFM fellow said "go ahead, get pregnant, we'll start aspirin at 12 weeks and take it one step at a time."
So.
Glad that stressor is over.
One less thing to worry about. Even though i know more then anyone that there are still no guarantees, at least it's one less odd against us.
Not stoked that i was put through a scary false diagnosis. But today i'm feeling more grateful then anything.
sending some love back out to all of those who are reading this.
I put up Truman's christmas tree today. I felt him with me through out the day.
Jeff and I went swimming after the appointment and I thought about him as we swam our laps. I think he would have loved the water as much as everyone else in his family does. We are all a bunch of fish. i thought about my pregnancy swim days, twice a week, him and i got to swim together. I will always cherish that time in the pool with him and those memories.
I got home and there was a message from a friend.
Her daughter was born about 10 hours after Truman and I LOVE looking at pictures of her. She makes me feel connected to Truman for some reason. His little birthday buddy. She gives my imagination the room to watch and think about what Tru would be doing at this point in life.
My friend said she heard this song today and it reminded her of Truman. It touched my heart.

Oh, Laura Beck, I am out here reading - and I hate that doctor. At least for the moment I do. The one who *didn't* read your chart and gave you the wrong results and didn't care and showed it.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got this other one. You were brave. You went back. You got, at least, SOME good news, and some ACCURATE news. None of which makes things easier, but at least you don't have something added to what already hangs over your head.
My silence is me, not you. I told CW; I don't know where the words go, but sometimes they vaporize and nothingness reigns. I don't forget you, even when I have no words to comment with. And I definitely don't like you any less.
xoxo CiM
Love to TRUMAN, always
Also - your SIL, who has cancer? It has been so long since an update from her...I'm worried. Have this bad feeling she's getting hammered by the chemo, etc, etc, etc. Thinking of her, too.
CiM!!! I'm glad to hear from you. You have been in my thoughts. i understand though, my words escape me too. But so glad that you stopped by and shared some loving thoughts <3
DeleteSIL is a beam of sunshine and is now dealing with being a cancer SURVIVOR!!! Now that she is done with treatment and given the good news she has had time to reflect and actually process the hell that she went through. So the good news is she is healthy.... the bad news is- she left her blog at a stand still. But as long as she is okay, everyone is happy. :)
Laura!!!! Such wonderful news... So glad to read this today after been so sad about the elementary school shooting this morning. I'm really glad there is one less thing to battle. I hues I'm with your dad... Just relieved. Celebratory sex???? :) with your husband not me :) haha
ReplyDeleteI also wonder about your SIL..
CIM gave been wondering about you but you have no blog. Your just words on the wind so I only know you when I see your comments. Hope you are well
lol, Renel!! ;P

Oh, Laura, that is such great news!! I can't believe that your previous doctor gave you false information and a false diagnosis. Is there any consequence for his carelessness? For his misdiagnosis? There should be. . .
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you - things are definitely looking up!!
Sending love <3
Suzanne
I can't believe how that doctor read your blood work wrong.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you went for a second opinion. This new doctor sounds like he's on top of things and pays attention to details. I hope you feel more secure with this doctor and as you move forward with trying again.
Sending love right back to you, and I love Truman's Christmas tree <3
I'm so sorry your 1st doctor caused you significant worry, that's awful. BUT glad you don't have APS after all. That's a huge relief. Love to you. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow, some people don't realise how much impact such carelessness can have on another's life.
ReplyDeleteI am very relieved that you can scratch that one thing off your list of things to worry about.
Such great news! Sending you lots of love and luck . . . thinking of you. Love Truman's tree. It's perfect :)
